So, who’s that guy?
Animation Garden is an Edinburgh based studio combining IP development and service work, founded by animator Iain Gardner.
Animation Garden was selected as a ‘Producer to Watch’ at MIPTV in 2020, and has presented projects at Cartoon Forum.
We partnered with the Illuminated Film Company and Filmograf to produce our British Animation Award winning and Annie Award® nominated special A BEAR NAMED WOJTEK, and are in co-development with Lupus Films on an animated feature film.
Iain is an Award Winning film maker whose introduction to the animation industry was at the Richard Williams Animation Studio working on the unfinished masterpiece ‘The Thief & The Cobbler’.
He served as the Animation Programmer for the Edinburgh International Film Festival for a decade, curating the McLaren Award for Best British Animation and hosting retrospectives including Richard Williams, Will Anderson & Ainslie Henderson, Lizzie Hobbs and Don Hertzfeldt.
In 2014 Iain was the Artistic Director of McLaren 2014, celebrating the centenary of Scots born animation pioneer Norman McLaren, who founded the animation department of the National Film Board of Canada.
Iain’s work is discussed in Maureen Furniss’s The Animation Bible (2008) and the 2nd edition of Paul Wells and Samantha Moore's The Fundamentals of Animation (2016)
